July 19 - 20 - Multiple Showings - Footloose The Musical - hosted by Mitte Cultural District and Camille Playhouse - Come and join our talented youth actors as they present FOOTLOOSE as part of Camille's annual Summer Workshop series. This show paired with our young talent is a MUST SEE for the entire family this summer! When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the adjustment to his new high school. What he isn't prepared for are the local laws - including a ban on dancing - which are the brainchild of a local preacher bent on exercising control over the town's youths. When the Reverend's rebellious daughter sets her heart on Ren, her boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren's reputation and many of the locals are eager to believe the worst about the new kid. With its Oscar'-nominated hit score the celebrated film musical now bursts explosively onto the stage.

July 20 - 8am - 11am - Bilingual Birding Bus Tour - hosted by Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, Viva the Ocelot, Friends of Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, and Latino Conservation Week - Join Master Naturalist and the Arroyo Colorado Audubon's President, Alicia Cavasos, for a guided birding bus tour around Laguna Atascosa, in Spanish! No birding experience required, but bring your enthusiasm, water, and binoculars if you have them! Registration is required. We will be meeting at the Visitor Center. FREE/VOLUNTEER - July 20 - 8:30am - 12pm - Low Water Bridge Cleanup - hosted by RGV Fishing Area And Waterway Cleanups - This is a fishing area and waterway cleanup at Low Water Bridge in San Benito. This is where Cemetery Road crosses the Arroyo Colorado. The area is very much in need of cleaning. There is a lot of trash and refuse that needs to be cleaned up. There are tall weeds and over 75 old tires to clean up. We have coordinated this event with County Commissioner David Garza's office in order to have sufficient roll out dumpsters. We have also coordinated with the Bridgestone Corporation Tires4ward Program for pick up and recycling of the old tires. Please come out and volunteer to make a difference. This cleanup is registered with American Rivers and Keep Texas Waterways Beautiful. All cleanup supplies along with sunscreen, insect repellent, and water will be provided.

This is a one hour class covering the very basics of henna: What is henna? How does it work? What has it been used for? How to make your own henna paste. I will have a few free practice cones available for the first attendees. There will be supplies for sale and a sign up sheet for those wanting to get some henna done. All ages welcome.
